Marketplace Manager

If you have market place experience (Amazon and Walmart), seller and FBA fulfillment experience and are accustomed to working with large SKU counts (1K or greater) with 1M or greater in sales we need to talk.  


The Marketplace Manager will be responsible for developing and executing marketing and merchandising strategies that drive increased sales and profits from eCommerce marketplaces.

This position requires a hands-on manager who will collaborate closely with Sr. Management, Indirect Reports(s), Merchants, Marketing, Inventory Planners, Distribution Center Operations and other areas in the Company to execute existing and develop new Marketplace opportunities.

Job Description: 

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for leveraging marketplaces to grow the business focusing on sales trends, promotional opportunities, marketing activities, search ranking improvements, conversion rate optimization and logistical improvements.

  • Responsible for marketplace strategy, management, forecasts and results including short and long-term objectives, customer metrics and overall performance.

  • Work closely with Merchandising, Finance and Inventory Planning teams.

    • Partner with Inventory Planning team to optimize item fulfillment channels to maximize sales velocity and profit.

    • Partner with Creative/Advertising team to scale enhanced content across product listings that include images, product descriptions and features, shipping details, item specifications and all necessary information to successfully sell the product and serve the customer.

  • Actively monitor all marketplaces daily and make recommendations for changes to product listings based on market trends, opportunities, promotions and competitor listings.

  • Evaluate and implement changes to current marketplace fulfillment models necessary to scale operations, sales and profits.

  • Gather and analyze large sets of data to find key insights and identify areas of opportunity across marketing, pricing and inventory; build models to forecast impact and measure results.

  • Oversee the day-to-day marketplace operations: product listings, fulfillment, promotions, merchandising maintenance, customer service and reporting.

  • Provide direction and coordinate with 3rd party integration vendors

  • Ensure daily maintenance of sites is performed and marketplace listings are reconciled.

  • Develop marketplace cost center budgets and maintain current projections.

  • Develop additional reporting to support cross-functional efforts to optimize marketplace performance.

  • Manage outside agency paid ad programs across marketplaces including development of strategy, performance goals engagement and management.

  • May eventually manage staff of 1 or more.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or other relevant study

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of eCommerce experience in direct-to-consumer or wholesale businesses

  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills to develop and drive strategy decisions

  • 3+ years of experience with selling on marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart, etc.) including direct experience on their administrative tools

  • Deep knowledge of requirements, restrictions and best practices for successfully selling on Amazon, Walmart and other marketplaces

  • Experience in both seller fulfilled and FBA (fulfilled by Amazon) fulfillment models

  • Demonstrated understanding of web technologies, browsers, analytics, reporting and content management systems and processes

  • Experience with Channel Advisor, CommerceHub or similar product listing software

  • Experience with paid advertising opportunities available on various marketplaces (management of agency relationships a plus)

  • Results driven and able to work with cross-functional teams to achieve sales goals

  • Experience in managing direct reports

  • Experience in managing vendor relationships

  • Experience in managing cross-functional projects
